CaribNOG 2020 (Virtual Meeting)

Increasing Caribbean Connections

2020 has been a year like no other. Across the region, a spotlight has been lit on the quality, resilience and security of computer networks. The CaribNOG community has played an important role in supporting the rapid transition to online services across the region by focusing on building human resource capacity in areas such as cybersecurity, autonomous networks, IPv6 deployments and interconnection and peering.

The 20th staging of the CaribNOG Regional Meeting will be held virtually. CaribNOG 20 immediately follows the 6th Caribbean Peering and Interconnection Forum (CarPIF) virtual event and continues the focus on building and strengthening Internet Exchange Points.

Under the theme “Increasing Caribbean Connections”, CaribNOG 20 will provide participants with the opportunity to network virtually and to build out local and regional networks.

This year, our expert panelists and speakers will provide updates as well as with an in-dept, hands-on workshop exploring the practical steps involved in building an Internet Exchange Point from the ground up. CaribNOG 20 will address key issues, including setting up autonomous networks, selecting appropriate networking equipment, number resource management and network configuration and interconnection best practices.

Attendees will also gain actionable insights into the technical elements required to successfully connect and grow autonomous networks, participate at local exchange points and increase available local bandwidth.

CaribNOG is a unique forum in the Caribbean, bringing together network engineers, computer security experts, telecommunications specialists and regulators, and tech aficionados to exchange ideas and share experiences. Since its inception in 2010, the volunteer-based CaribNOG community has enjoyed strong support from major global Internet organizations, including the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN), Latin American Internet Registry (LACNIC), Packet Clearing House (PCH), Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Society (ISOC).

CaribNOG 2020 is being held on 11 November 2020 from 9 am to 2 pm AST. There is no cost to attend. Visit www.caribnog.org to register.
